Portrush

Portrush is a seaside town on a peninsula extending into the sea, offering three beaches with sandy shores. The landscape is shaped by cliffs and rocks that the sea continually sculpts.

The area was inhabited in prehistoric times, with early traces of human presence in the region. Over centuries it grew as a trading port, then transformed into a modern seaside destination with the arrival of the railway in the 1800s.

The name Portrush comes from Irish words meaning "port on the headland". Golf has shaped local identity for generations, and many visitors connect the place with this sport.

The train station connects the town to larger cities and sits centrally for visitors. The best time to walk along the coast is at low tide, when more beach becomes visible.

Each year in May, the town's streets become a race circuit for high-speed motorcycle competitions drawing international riders. This annual event temporarily transforms the place into a motorsports attraction.
