Chessington World of Adventures

Chessington World of Adventures is a theme park featuring roller coasters, water rides, and family attractions spread across eight themed zones. The site also contains animal enclosures where you can see creatures from Africa, Asia, and South America.

The site began in 1931 as a zoo focused on exotic animals and operated for decades as a wildlife center. New owners took over in 1987 and added rides and shows, transforming it into a theme park.

The themed zones carry names like Mystic East and Adventureland, with architecture and decor that echo Southeast Asian or exotic worlds. Dining spots throughout the park serve food whose names and presentation match the areas where they sit.

Pathways between zones are paved and wheelchairs can access most grounds, though some rides have safety restrictions. Arriving early, especially during summer months, helps you avoid queues that build up as the day goes on.

The Jumanji section debuted in 2023 as the world's first theme park land based on this film franchise. Rides here blend special effects and immersive sets that recreate scenes from the movies.
