Tiger Rock, Log flume ride at Chessington World of Adventures, England
Tiger Rock is a log flume ride at Chessington World of Adventures in Surrey, England, where riders travel in boat-shaped cars through a series of themed sections. The course includes two drops, a mix of indoor tunnels and open-air sections, and ends with a splash into a pool.
The ride opened in 1987 under the name Dragon River, designed by John Wardley and built by Mack Rides. In 1999, it was renamed Tiger Rock as part of a wider retheme of the surrounding area of the park.
The station is built to resemble a pagoda, and the themed decoration continues along the full course with painted surfaces and sculpted elements. These details give the ride a clear visual identity that sets it apart from a plain water attraction.
A minimum height is required to ride, so it is worth checking current park guidelines before visiting with younger children. The final splash can leave riders quite wet, so bringing a spare change of clothes or a waterproof bag for belongings is a good idea.
The course was built into the natural slope of the land, which makes the larger drop feel steeper than it looks from the queue. Although the ride has been running since 1987, the basic layout of the channel has stayed largely the same over the decades.
