Scorpion Express, Steel roller coaster in Chessington World of Adventures, United Kingdom
Scorpion Express is a steel roller coaster at Chessington World of Adventures in the United Kingdom, featuring a figure-eight track layout with brown supports. Most cars seat two riders side by side, and the ride is aimed at younger or less experienced visitors rather than thrill-seeking adults.
The coaster opened in 1987 under the name Rocky Mountain, making it one of the park's early attractions. A full overhaul in 2014 brought new theming and mechanical upgrades, and the ride was relaunched under its current name.
The ride is themed around a fictional mining operation, with metal scorpion figures and mock radio broadcasts woven into the experience. This playful setting makes it feel less like a standard coaster and more like a short story you ride through.
Younger children can ride with an adult, while older children above a certain height can go on their own. It is worth checking the height requirements posted at the ride entrance before joining the queue.
The front car of the train has an unusual single-row design, while every other car seats two riders side by side. Sitting at the very front gives a noticeably different view and feel compared to the rest of the train.
