St Leonards, Coastal town in East Sussex, England

St Leonards is a seaside town in East Sussex along England's south coast. The town spreads across several miles of waterfront lined with a pebble beach and features a mix of Victorian buildings alongside later structures.

Developer James Burton purchased land in 1826 and began transforming it into a planned seaside resort with orderly streets and large houses. This early development created the Victorian foundation visible throughout the town today.

Marine Court stands out as a striking Art Deco structure completed in 1937 that dominates the seafront. The building reflects the town's past prosperity and remains a focal point when walking along the promenade.

The town is well connected by rail to London and other major cities through St Leonards Warrior Square station. This central location makes it easy to explore the town and seafront on foot.

Members of the royal family visited the town during the 1830s, including Princess Victoria. These royal visits helped establish St Leonards as a prestigious holiday destination for the upper classes.
