Garreg Las, Mountain summit in Carmarthenshire, United Kingdom.
Garreg Las is a mountain summit in Carmarthenshire that rises to 635 meters above sea level. The peak is marked by two substantial stone cairns that stand out against the surrounding landscape.
The mountain features two ancient cairns that date back to around 2000 BC and reflect burial practices of prehistoric communities. These stone structures show human presence on these hills for thousands of years.
The mountain forms part of the Beacons Way long-distance footpath, connecting the communities of Llangadog and Abergavenny through traditional Welsh landscapes.
The summit can be reached from a car park on the A4069 Brynaman Road or via a bridleway starting from Llanddeusant to the north. Both routes offer different walking experiences depending on your time and fitness level.
The eastern flanks contain large sinkholes in the Basal Grit layer, including a flooded depression called Pwll Cynrig. These karst features reveal the geological forces that have shaped this part of the mountain.
