Sgùrr Eilde Mòr, Mountain summit in Mamores Range, Scotland

Sgùrr Eilde Mòr is a 1010 meter summit at the eastern end of the Mamores range in Scotland. The mountain displays a cone-shaped profile from certain angles and sits among a cluster of connected peaks in this Highland region.

The mountain paths in this area developed through centuries of hunting and sheep herding in the Scottish Highlands. Local people established and maintained these routes across the terrain over generations dating back to medieval times.

The peak carries a Gaelic name rooted in the local language traditions of the Scottish Highlands. Visitors encounter bilingual markers and information that reflect how the area maintains its linguistic heritage.

The approach from Kinlochleven follows estate tracks and mountain paths before the steeper final section over loose rock to the summit cairn. Weather conditions change quickly at this elevation, so proper gear and navigation skills are essential for a safe journey.

Several small mountain lakes sit at the base of this peak and act as natural mirrors in clear weather. These waters reflect the surrounding mountains and create striking visual effects especially during sunrise or sunset.
