Alpha Square, Mixed-use development in Isle of Dogs, London, England
Alpha Square is a mixed-use development on the Isle of Dogs with three main structures: the prominent Aspen Tower, the Alta building, and the Dorsett Aspen Hotel serving the nearby financial district. The project includes contemporary housing, retail areas, a health facility, and a school that serves the surrounding community.
The project received final approval in April 2016 after facing earlier rejections, with support from the London Mayor at that time. This turning point allowed development of the site to move forward in this part of the district.
The site preserves the North Pole pub, a neighborhood gathering place with deep roots in the area, by integrating it into the new development. This choice shows how the project honors local character while introducing contemporary buildings.
The site is well connected by public transport and offers easy walking routes to surrounding offices and shops in Canary Wharf. Visitors exploring the financial district can easily access the retail spaces and public areas within the complex.
The tallest tower reaches approximately 217 meters (712 feet) and ranks among the highest residential structures in the Canary Wharf area after its completion in 2024. This height offers residents sweeping views across the city and docklands.
