Bash Bish Falls State Park, Nature reserve and state park in Mount Washington, Massachusetts, US.
Bash Bish Falls State Park is a nature reserve featuring a prominent waterfall that drops into a deep basin surrounded by steep rocky gorges. Dense hemlock forests frame the falls and create a rugged landscape typical of this region.
The state established this protected area in 1924 to conserve the falls and surrounding landscape for the future. This preservation effort marked an important early step in protecting natural areas in the region.
The Mohican and Scaghticoke peoples held this place sacred for many generations before European settlement. The falls and surrounding lands remained central to their spiritual and daily practices.
Two parking areas provide different routes to reach the falls, with one approach being quite steep and the other more gradual. Visitors can choose their preferred trail based on fitness level and how much time they have.
The pool at the base of the falls displays a natural greenish tint caused by minerals dissolved in the water. This distinctive coloration makes the spot visually different from typical waterfalls elsewhere.
