AEGON Center, Office tower in Downtown Louisville, United States.
The AEGON Center is a 35-story office building in downtown Louisville standing about 549 feet tall with a glass exterior and reinforced concrete frame. It contains both office and retail spaces that serve as a major commercial hub in the city's business district.
The building was completed in 1991 under the name Capital Holding Building and experienced several name changes reflecting its major tenants before adopting the name 400 West Market in 2014. The succession of names reflects how the city's business landscape evolved over decades.
The building lights up in red and green during the winter season from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day, creating a festive display across its facade. This seasonal transformation has become a recognizable part of the downtown skyline for residents and visitors alike.
The building is located in the heart of downtown and is easy to navigate on foot, with high visibility thanks to its height and glass exterior. The surrounding area is well-developed with accessible streets and parking options for visitors exploring the business district.
An 80-foot Romanesque dome crowns the top of the building and glows from within during the night, creating a distinctive outline against the sky. This architectural detail often goes unnoticed from ground level but becomes a striking landmark when viewing the city from a distance.
