Federal Prison Camp, Alderson, Federal women's prison in Alderson, West Virginia, US

The Federal Prison Camp spans 159 acres across Monroe and Summers Counties, with dormitories arranged in a horseshoe pattern without barbed wire fences.

Established in 1928 as the Federal Industrial Institute for Women, the facility addressed the need for dedicated federal prison space for female offenders.

The prison operates rehabilitation programs including Paws4prisons, where inmates train service dogs for disabled veterans in the community.

Inmates receive access to educational programs, work assignments, and can purchase additional items through their commissary accounts funded by family deposits.

The facility follows a boarding school model with 14 cottages, no armed guards, and unbarred windows, leading to its informal designation as Camp Cupcake.
