Fuertes Observatory, Academic observatory in North Campus of Cornell University, United States
The Fuertes Observatory contains a 12-inch refractive telescope housed within a 24-foot diameter steel dome on Cornell University grounds.
Built in 1917 under supervision of Cornell Department of Civil Engineering, the observatory initially served as an instructional field office for navigation.
The facility contributes to scientific education through regular public viewings of celestial objects during Friday night sessions throughout the academic year.
Located near Beebe Lake, the observatory welcomes visitors every Friday from 8 PM until midnight, offering guided observations when weather conditions permit.
The observatory houses the Irving Porter Church Memorial Telescope, constructed with glass blanks obtained from Yerkes Observatory in 1919.
