Genesee Towers, Former office tower in Flint, United States.
Genesee Towers was a 19-story office building in downtown Flint, Michigan, that opened in 1968. It was made up of two separate sections divided by a narrow air gap, though from a distance the structure appeared as a single tower.
The building went up in 1968, becoming the first office tower built in Flint since 1929, at a time when the city was still growing economically. Decades later, as Flint's economy declined, the structure was condemned and closed to the public.
The upper floors once housed the University Club, where local professionals gathered regularly for meetings and social events. For many years, this space was one of the few places in downtown Flint where the business community came together.
The structure stands in downtown Flint and is visible from the street, but it cannot be entered since it was condemned by the city. Anyone visiting the area should stay clear of the barriers that were set up around the building.
Although the building looks like one tower, the air gap between its two sections was not an accident but a deliberate choice made by the architects from the start. This meant the two halves were never physically connected at the upper levels.
