The cemetery was established in 1866 on a former farm that served as Union headquarters, initially containing remains of 1,189 soldiers from Civil War battles.
Medal of Honor recipient Corporal Michael Fleming Folland from the Vietnam War rests among numerous veterans who served the United States military.
The cemetery grounds remain open for visits from sunrise to sunset, with offices operating Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
Fresh flowers decorate graves year-round, while artificial arrangements are permitted between November 1st and April 1st under specific cemetery regulations.
