Green Sergeant's Covered Bridge
Green Sergeant's Covered Bridge, Covered bridge in Delaware Township, US.
The wooden bridge spans across Wickecheoke Creek, featuring a Town lattice truss design with red cedar roofing and white oak construction materials.
Built in 1872 for 1,500 dollars, the bridge received extensive repairs in 2023, including new timber stringers, decking, and structural improvements.
The bridge bears the name of Richard Green Sergeant, whose father Charles purchased the surrounding land in 1805 and operated the nearby mill.
Located on Rosemont-Sergeantsville Road, the bridge remains open to vehicular traffic and requires no entrance fee for visitors or photographers.
Standing as New Jersey's only surviving 19th-century covered bridge, the structure underwent reconstruction in 1961 using its original materials after public protest.
