Greentree

Greentree is an estate on Long Island spanning 400 acres with a main house, extensive stables, tennis courts, and landscaped gardens. Today the Greentree Foundation maintains the property and uses its conference facilities to advance international justice initiatives.

William Payne Whitney assembled five farms to establish the estate in 1904. The property remained with the Whitney family throughout the 20th century before transitioning to its current purpose as a center for international engagement.

The property functions as a gathering place where international delegates meet and exchange ideas about human rights and diplomacy, with artworks displayed throughout the grounds.

The property is managed by a private foundation and is not open to casual visitors. Access is generally restricted to those attending official meetings and conferences held at the facility.

The grounds contain one of the few remaining real tennis courts in North America, a rare sporting facility with deep historical roots. This ancient racquet sport continues to be played here, linking the property's past with its present-day activities.
