Greenwood Music Camp, Music education camp in Cummington, Massachusetts, United States
Greenwood Music Camp is a music education facility situated on a hilltop location in Cummington within the Berkshires region. The campus accommodates more than 40 students and faculty members at the same time.
The camp was established in 1933 by Dorothy Fay Little and Ruth Hill McGregor, beginning with five students. The program relocated from Isle La Motte through Harvard before settling in the Berkshires.
The camp experience blends chamber music training with recreational activities including soccer, softball, swimming, and hiking. This combination shapes how students spend their days throughout the summer sessions on the grounds.
The senior session runs for five weeks in July for students up to age 18, with a separate junior session spanning two weeks in August for younger participants up to age 13. Planning your visit or enrollment requires checking current schedules in advance.
Participants go through live auditions held in New York City, Boston, and Western Massachusetts where they perform two musical pieces. Sight reading exercises are also part of this assessment process.
