Keller's Mill Covered Bridge, Covered bridge in Ephrata Township, US
Keller's Mill Covered Bridge is a wooden covered bridge in Ephrata Township that crosses Cocalico Creek using double Burr arch trusses and steel hanger rods. The structure spans approximately 74 feet and has a clearance of about 9 feet 6 inches for vehicle passage.
Elias McMellen built the original bridge in 1873 as a private investment for the local crossing. Following severe flood damage, it was reconstructed in 1891 with reinforced structural components.
This is the only all-white covered bridge in Lancaster County, standing out from the traditional red structures found throughout the region. The distinctive white paint makes it easily recognizable as you approach along the road.
The bridge is accessible via Middle Creek Road and provides passage for both vehicles and pedestrians. The narrow covered section may present challenges for larger vehicles, so approach with attention to its dimensions.
In 2006, the bridge was fully disassembled and relocated downstream to replace a failing adjacent structure. It reopened in 2010 at its current location, making it a rare example of a historic covered bridge that was physically moved.
