Kintner House Hotel, Hotel in den Vereinigten Staaten
Kintner House Hotel is a historic inn in Corydon, Indiana, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1873 as a brick structure in Italianate style with two and a half stories, it now offers eleven guest rooms with private bathrooms, antique furnishings, and modern conveniences such as televisions and air conditioning.
The original Kintner House burned in 1871, after which owner Jacob Kintner rebuilt the structure at a new location in 1873. Following its years as a hotel, the building served as a beauty shop, doctor's office, and watchmaker's shop before falling into disrepair until restored in the 1980s and added to the National Register in 1987.
The building takes its name from owner Jacob Kintner, who rebuilt it after a fire destroyed the original structure. Visitors today can see fine details like floral teacups and antique dressers that reflect the life and tastes of that era.
The hotel sits in downtown Corydon, allowing visitors to walk easily to other historic buildings and shops nearby. Free parking is available, the ground floor is accessible for guests with mobility needs, and year-round operations mean you can plan a visit whenever it suits you.
The building appeared on two Hallmark Christmas cards in 1991, reflecting its local significance and cozy character. The original nearby house was where General Morgan learned during the Civil War that Lee had lost at Gettysburg, making the area deeply tied to that conflict.
