Leaming's Run Gardens

Leaming's Run Gardens is a botanical garden spanning roughly 30 acres with various planted sections featuring perennials, fruit trees, native plants, small ponds, and wooded areas. The space is laid out along paths where visitors walk through these different zones at their own pace.

The gardens were established in the late 1970s and incorporated an 18th-century house into the property, creating a link between modern gardening and the region's past. This blend shows how historical structures can be integrated into contemporary spaces.

The best time to visit is from early June through late September when all sections are accessible and the gardens are in full color. Wear comfortable walking shoes since you will spend several hours on the paths, and bring water as the summer sun can be intense.

In August the gardens become a stopover for ruby-throated hummingbirds making their southern migration journey. This seasonal bird activity draws nature enthusiasts who want to witness this natural event in person.
