Marion Memorial Bridge, Road bridge in Jasper, Tennessee.
Marion Memorial Bridge is a road bridge that crosses the Tennessee River in Jasper using a steel truss structure combining Parker and K-Truss design elements. The structure was built to accommodate two-way traffic and served as a key crossing point in the local transportation network.
The bridge was built in 1929 and served as an important transportation link for several decades until it closed to traffic in 2012. Its construction reflected the engineering methods of that era and the region's growing need for river crossings.
The structure gained recognition on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007 for its engineering significance in Tennessee's transportation development.
The bridge has been closed to vehicle traffic since 2012 and motorists are redirected to the Interstate 24 bridge located to the south. Visitors can still view and photograph the structure from the road or from the riverbank.
The bridge required specific height adjustments following the construction of the Nickajack Dam downstream to accommodate changes in water levels. This adaptation shows how engineers had to modify infrastructure when major alterations to the river occurred.
