Matthaei Botanical Gardens is a botanical garden and research center of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. The facility spreads across more than 140 hectares with eleven outdoor gardens, including perennial gardens, herb gardens, and specialized plant collections.
The University of Michigan founded this center in the 1960s to advance research in botany and environmental sciences. Expansion of gardens and greenhouses has since strengthened its role as a scientific and educational institution.
