Monte Ne, Ghost town near Rogers in Arkansas, United States.
Monte Ne is an abandoned settlement in Benton County in northwestern Arkansas, with remains partly submerged beneath Beaver Lake. The visible ruins consist of stone walls, columns, and foundations that appear when water levels drop.
A businessman founded the settlement in 1901 as a resort that drew guests with hotels and its own railway line. The flooding of the area starting in 1964 for the Beaver Dam project submerged most buildings permanently.
The name comes from the Omaha language and means water, chosen by the founder to reflect the local creeks and lagoons. Today the site draws people who come to photograph the stone walls and columns when the lake recedes.
Trails lead to the ruins, but visibility depends on the lake level, which often drops during summer and fall. At higher water stages the stone structures remain hidden beneath the surface.
The founder began building a large concrete amphitheater intended as the base for a pyramid around 130 feet (40 m) tall. This unfinished project still stands along the shore and was meant to preserve records for future civilizations.
