Mystique

Mystique is an ice center in Dubuque with a single skating rink that holds about 3,200 spectators, luxury boxes, and press areas. The facility also includes a lounge area with a full bar for visitors.

The ice center was built starting in 2009 and opened its doors in 2010 as a new venue for ice hockey and other skating sports. About 13 years after opening, the facility underwent major renovation work to address structural issues.

The ice center serves as the home venue for the local hockey team, whose games bring the community together throughout the season. Supporters gather here to watch their team play and participate in the rhythm of seasonal sports events.

The facility offers convenient parking in two main areas: one lot right next to the building and a larger area across the street nearby. Arriving early is wise during events to secure a good parking spot close to the entrance.

The facility faced significant structural problems with its foundation that required major repairs within years of opening, which was a surprising challenge for a relatively new building. This experience demonstrates how even contemporary sports venues can encounter unexpected issues that demand costly solutions.
