The stone-covered brick structure features a rectangular shape with three front bays, four side bays, and stands on a stone foundation with an asphalt roof.
Founded in 1847 and initially served by priests of the Society of the Precious Blood, the church underwent reconstruction after a fire in 1888 at a cost of 16,000 dollars.
The parish established two one-room schools along Cassella-Montezuma Road, representing the educational commitment of this religious community in Marion Township.
The church maintains its original architectural elements, including a square tower with a cupola, ornamental columns, and an arch-shaped window above the entrance.
German craftsmen added the cut stone exterior in 1915, transforming the building into one of the notable Cross-Tipped Churches in the region.
