The Oak Grove Cemetery spans eleven acres of land with curved lanes and granite structures surrounded by Washington, Grove, Derby Streets and Maplewood Avenue.
Founded in 1855 by six local businessmen, the cemetery features burial grounds designed by landscape architects Robert Morris Copeland and Horace William Shaler Cleveland.
The Bradford Chapel, constructed between 1903 and 1904, stands as a Romanesque memorial building made of Cape Ann granite at the cemetery entrance.
The cemetery contains 8,923 memorials, with maps located at the chapel wall near the front entrance to guide visitors through the grounds.
The cemetery retains a single original path marker within its grounds, while the curving avenues integrate naturally with the boulder-dotted landscape.
