Olympus, Steel sculpture in Lynden Sculpture Garden, Milwaukee, US
Olympus is a steel sculpture in the Lynden Sculpture Garden, a 40-acre landscape with trees, lakes, and many other artworks. The form stands freely on the grounds and offers different views depending on where you stand.
Charles Ginnever created this sculpture in 1976 as part of a collection that Margaret Bradley built between 1962 and 1978. Over those years the grounds became a place where modern artworks are shown in a natural setting.
The work belongs to a collection of artists from around the world whose creations define the grounds and show how different artistic traditions coexist. Visitors encounter new pieces throughout their walk and experience an outdoor studio open to everyone.
The grounds are open to visitors and offer plenty of space to explore on foot. Bring comfortable shoes, as the paths go through natural landscape and can be affected by weather.
The sculpture looks completely different depending on your viewpoint and creates several geometric perspectives. This changing appearance makes each visit from a different spot feel like a new experience.
