Benjamin Church House, Greek Revival museum in Shorewood, United States
The Benjamin Church House features four fluted Doric columns at the front entrance and maintains a symmetrical floor plan with two bedroom wings.
Built in 1843 by Benjamin Church, a pioneer carpenter, this structure stands as one of the earliest surviving residences from Milwaukee's settlement period.
The interior displays period furnishings from the Wisconsin Society of The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America, representing 19th-century domestic life.
The Milwaukee County Historical Society maintains the house and provides guided tours during summer months at its current location in Estabrook Park.
The Works Progress Administration moved the entire structure from its original Kilbourntown location to Shorewood in 1938 to ensure its preservation.
