Pahaquarry Copper Mine, Copper mine in Hardwick Township, US
Located on the west side of Kittatinny Mountain, the Pahaquarry Copper Mine contains several mining tunnels, shafts, and remnants of processing facilities.
The first documented mining operation began in 1740 under John Reading Jr's funding, though the site never achieved profitable copper production despite multiple attempts.
The mining site became part of the Old Mine Road Historic District in 1980, preserving industrial heritage within the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
The mine ruins are accessible through hiking trails within the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, managed by the National Park Service.
From 1925 to 1972, the former mining property served as a camp for the George Washington Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
