Parkland High School, high school in Allentown, Pennsylvania
Parkland High School is a large school serving grades nine through twelve located near Allentown, Pennsylvania. The campus spans 128 acres and has three main entrances that lead to different areas including classrooms, sports facilities, and the theater.
The school was founded in 1949 through the merger of two townships and initially occupied an existing building in South Whitehall before relocating to a larger facility in 1954. After nearly 45 years, a modern school building was constructed in 1999 on Cedar Crest Boulevard to accommodate growing enrollment and updated educational needs.
The school takes its name from Parkland Township in the area near Allentown. Throughout the year, the community observes cultural celebrations including Lunar New Year, Acts of Kindness Day, Ash Wednesday, and Ramadan, reflecting the diversity of the student body.
The school has three separate entrances designed for different areas of campus, making it easier to navigate depending on where you need to go. It helps to know which entrance to use based on your intended destination when arriving.
The buildings on campus are arranged in a shape that resembles the spaceship from Star Wars films, though the school notes this was not intentional in the design. Many students and visitors notice this accidental resemblance, and it has become a fun part of the school's character.
