Raquette Lake Camps, Summer camp complex in Adirondack Mountains, United States

Raquette Lake Camps consist of two separate summer facilities for boys and girls positioned along the shoreline of Raquette Lake in the Adirondack Mountains. The properties feature athletic fields, waterfront recreation areas, and residential buildings spread across the lakeside grounds.

The girls camp originated in 1916 and relocated to the former Antlers Hotel property on Raquette Lake in 1920 to create a larger lakeside operation. A boys camp was later established as a companion facility, forming the two-camp structure that exists today.

The camps hold a strong tradition of community living where children gather daily for meals, activities, and evening campfires that create lasting bonds. These shared experiences shape how many people remember their childhood years.

Visitors should bring waterproof clothing and insect protection since the camps sit directly on the lake in a forested mountain setting. The summer months offer the best experience when all facilities are active and water conditions are ideal for swimming and water sports.

Children whose parents or grandparents attended these camps often return as part of a new generation, carrying forward a family tradition that spans decades. This multigenerational connection is rare and speaks to how the place shapes families across time.
