Reunion, Bronze sculpture at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, United States

Reunion is a bronze sculpture at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, featuring two separate metal forms that rise from their own bases and converge into a unified composition. The two ascending elements create a visual statement about connection as they meet in the middle of the outdoor space.

The sculpture was created in 1992 and served as a model for a larger version installed at the Kitakyushu International Center in Japan the following year. This cross-continental connection demonstrates the artist's international recognition.

The sculpture stands near the Herron School of Art and Design, where artist Don Gummer studied before continuing his education at Yale University.

The sculpture sits on the east side of the Herron School of Art and Design campus and is easy to reach during a walking tour. Visit during daylight hours to see the bronze details and shadows created by the converging forms.

The artist developed the initial design using foam core and balsa wood before casting the final bronze version. This hands-on process shows the careful planning and experimentation that precedes many modern outdoor works.
