Rivington Arms, Art gallery in Lower East Side, Manhattan, United States
Rivington Arms was an art gallery that occupied a storefront space in Manhattan's Lower East Side neighborhood. The venue displayed contemporary artworks across diverse mediums and regularly presented changing exhibitions.
The gallery was founded in 2001 by Melissa Bent and Mirabelle Marden and relocated to a larger space in 2005. It closed in 2009 after serving as an active presence in New York's art scene.
The gallery represented numerous artists including Uri Aran, Darren Bader, Mathew Cerletty, and participated in international art fairs such as The Armory Show and Frieze.
The gallery was located in a converted storefront space on East 2nd Street in a walkable neighborhood. Visitors could easily reach the venue on foot within the Lower East Side's compact grid of streets.
The founders decided to close the gallery in 2009 due to business differences, following their final participation in the Frieze Art Fair in London.
