Rocky Peak Ridge, Mountain summit in Adirondacks, New York, US.
Rocky Peak Ridge is a mountain summit in the Adirondacks that rises to 4,420 feet, making it the twentieth highest peak in the range. The terrain is mostly rocky and exposed, with weathered stone visible along the hiking trails.
The first documented ascent took place in 1878 when trail guides Fred J. Patterson and Sam Dunning reached the summit. Since then, it has remained an established hiking destination in the region.
The summit is part of the famous 46 High Peaks of Adirondack Park, drawing mountain climbers from around the world. Many hikers attempt to climb all of them as a personal challenge.
The ascent follows the East Trail from US Route 9 and is demanding, with significant elevation gain over the course of the hike. Visitors should come prepared with sturdy hiking boots and plenty of water, as the terrain becomes steep and rocky.
Near the summit sits Lake Mary Louise, a small alpine lake that offers a quiet spot within the mountainous setting. A memorial cross for Eric Engler along the trail reminds visitors of the place's human connections.
