Skyline Tower, Residential skyscraper in Long Island City, Queens, United States
Skyline Tower is a residential skyscraper in Long Island City, Queens, New York, rising 67 floors above the East River waterfront. The building contains 802 condominium units and shared amenities such as a fitness center, a pool, a sauna, a spa, and several lounges.
The site where the tower stands was acquired by Citigroup in the 1980s with plans for a corporate office building, but those plans were never carried out. In 2015, developer Chris Xu purchased the land and redirected the project toward condominiums, completing the tower in the early 2020s.
Long Island City was once known for warehouses and factories, and this tower is one of the most visible signs of its shift toward residential use. People walking along Queens Plaza can see how the neighborhood has changed, with new buildings rising alongside older low-rise structures.
The tower sits in Long Island City and is easy to reach by subway from Manhattan and other parts of Queens. As a private residential building, its interior spaces and shared facilities are reserved for residents, so visitors can only see it from the street.
Federal aviation rules cap the tower's height because of its proximity to LaGuardia Airport, making it one of the few skyscrapers in New York shaped directly by flight path regulations. Despite that limit, it still ranks among the tallest residential buildings in Queens.
