Split Rock, Boulder in The Bronx, US.
Split Rock is a granite formation in the Bronx consisting of three large stone masses situated within a wooded area. The boulder group has a rough, natural surface with various protrusions and cracks distributed across its faces.
The rock formation was discovered by local climbers and established as a popular climbing area in the early 2000s. The community has systematically developed and documented routes over time.
The climbing community regularly gathers at Split Rock to share techniques, establish new routes, and maintain the natural climbing environment.
The location sits within an urban woodland area and is best reached on foot by following the path from North Country Road. A short walk through the forest of approximately seven minutes brings you to the spot where the granite blocks come into view.
The three stones are separated by deep splits that function like natural climbing channels and give the location its name. These characteristic cracks enable some of the most interesting and technical climbing problems on site.
