Southwick Beach State Park extends across 464 acres, featuring a 3,500-foot sandy beach along the eastern shore of Lake Ontario.
The property belonged to the Southwick family from 1870 until 1960, when it transitioned into a state park managed by New York State Office of Parks.
The park continues a long tradition of summer recreation for local communities, offering swimming, camping, and outdoor gatherings along Lake Ontario's shores.
Visitors can access camping facilities from May through Columbus Day weekend, with three pavilions available for rental that accommodate up to 100 people each.
The park contains rare freshwater coastal barriers with sand dunes supporting uncommon flora like sand dune willows, not typically found in New York State.
