Stockton State Park, State park on Stockton Lake in Cedar County, United States
Stockton State Park is a recreation area along Stockton Lake in Cedar County that occupies a peninsula where two river arms meet. The park provides boat launches, a marina, camping grounds, and designated swimming areas for day and overnight visitors.
The Army Corps of Engineers created Stockton Lake in the 1960s by constructing a dam across the Sac River. Missouri's Department of Natural Resources then opened the state park in 1969 to manage the lakeside lands for public use.
The park represents Missouri's outdoor recreation traditions with facilities for sailing, fishing, water skiing, and scuba diving activities throughout the seasons.
The park has well-marked pathways and level camping areas suitable for different ability levels, including accessible facilities. Plan weekday visits for fewer crowds, and bring sun protection during warm months when the lake attracts the most visitors.
A beach wheelchair program allows visitors with mobility challenges to access the waterfront areas with ease. This service has opened the shoreline experience to people who might otherwise have difficulty exploring those zones.
