Charles E Dimmitt established this medical facility in 1929 to honor his son George Watson Dimmitt, with architects JL Heckenlively and Carl Mark designing the building.
The transformation from a medical center to Lakeshores Residential Center demonstrates the adaptation of historical structures to meet changing community requirements.
Located at 102 South Bolivar Road, the building maintains most of its original windows, doors, and the operating room skylight from its hospital period.
The third floor operating room received natural illumination through a ceiling skylight, an advanced architectural feature for medical facilities of the 1920s.
