Teatro Fox Delicias

Teatro Fox Delicias is a movie theater with Art Deco style in Ponce, Puerto Rico, featuring white walls, large windows, and geometric patterns typical of 1930s design. After renovations in 1991, the building became a shopping center with 26 commercial spaces spread across 30,000 square feet.

Pedro Juan Serralles partnered with Twentieth Century Fox to build this theater, which opened in 1931 and became a major entertainment destination for the city. The building operated as a cinema until 1980, after which it was repurposed as a shopping center.

For generations, local residents gathered here to watch films together, making it a central gathering place in Ponce's social life. The venue became a shared memory for many who experienced the city's entertainment culture during the mid-20th century.

The location is in downtown Ponce and easily accessible on foot, with nearby shops and services throughout the neighborhood. Visitors can walk through the arcade and see traces of the original theater space within the modern shopping center layout.

Architect Francisco Porrata-Doria blended Art Deco elements with Spanish Colonial features on the building's exterior, a design choice that reflected Ponce's cultural crossroads. This architectural blend remains visible today as visitors explore the facade and its decorative details.
