Casa Serrallés

Casa Serrallés is a Spanish Colonial Revival mansion in Ponce that anchors the neighborhood with its distinctive architectural presence. The structure features terracotta roof tiles, stucco walls, ornate details, and multiple courtyards that flow through the interior layout.

Architect Alfredo Wiechers Pieretti designed this residence in 1912 for the Serrallés family, owners of a successful rum distillery business. The building represents the economic growth of that era and the architectural language of the emerging commercial class.

The mansion displays Spanish colonial architectural traditions through carved ornaments, classical columns, and wrought iron details that reflect how wealthy families lived in early 20th-century Puerto Rico. These stylistic choices shaped the neighborhood's character and remain visible throughout the structure.

The residence now functions as a museum that allows visitors to walk through rooms and courtyards from the early 20th century. The single-floor layout makes it straightforward to explore the property without climbing stairs or navigating multiple levels.
