Archivo Histórico de Ponce

The Archivo Histórico de Ponce is a historical archive and library occupying three floors with about 6,000 square meters of space, containing over one million documents from 300,000 indexed files. You can find photographs, maps, and architectural plans that document the city's history.

The archive was established in 1812 and originated from the city hall collection in Ponce before being relocated to its current location over time. Its beginnings trace back to municipal administration records carefully preserved across generations.

The archive demonstrates how Ponce evolved over centuries through records documenting daily life, trade, and local decisions. These papers tell the story of the people who lived here and how they built their community.
