Tennessee Riverwalk, Recreational trail at Tennessee River, United States.
The Tennessee Riverwalk is a paved pathway along the Tennessee River in Chattanooga that runs on the southern bank of the river. The trail connects different neighborhoods and passes by museums, art galleries, and sculptures placed at various points along the route.
The Riverwalk came from transforming an old industrial riverfront area into a public recreational space. This change happened over time, with the final section completed in 2016.
The path brings together art museums and galleries with the river, creating spaces where installations and sculptures sit among trees and water. Visitors encounter artworks while walking along the shore and can explore how the community has woven creative expression into this public space.
Several entry points with parking are spread along the path, and bicycles can be rented at various locations along the way. The route is suitable for walkers or cyclists and offers a flat, straightforward path without much elevation change.
Bronze fish markers appear every half mile (800 meters) along the path to help visitors track their location. Special sculptures mark each full kilometer and serve as artistic navigation aids for those exploring the route.
