Reflection Riding Arboretum and Botanical Garden, Botanical garden in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Reflection Riding is a 317-acre property with over 15 miles of paths through woodland gardens, wildflower meadows, and along Lookout Creek. The grounds were designed as a refuge for native plant species and form a connected network of natural habitats.
It was founded in 1956 by John and Margaret Chambliss to study and protect native plants of the Tennessee Valley. Over time it grew into a regional hub for environmental conservation and species protection.
The site operates breeding programs for endangered species and runs educational classes that introduce visitors to the ecology of the region. Different natural areas show how local plants and animals live together.
The grounds are walkable and offer trails for different experience levels, from short strolls to longer hikes. The best time to visit depends on your interests: spring brings flowers, while fall offers colorful foliage.
Since 1996 the site has been part of the Red Wolf Species Survival Plan and runs a breeding program for these rare predators. Visitors can learn more about these animals and their role in the ecosystem.
