Chattanooga Zoo at Warner Park, Zoological park in Warner Park, Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States.
Chattanooga Zoo is a facility spread across parkland with specially designed enclosures for animals from many parts of the world. The space is divided so that each animal group occupies an area that resembles its original habitat.
The facility started in 1937 as a small collection of primates and grew into a larger project over the decades. Various expansion phases shaped its current structure.
The zoo creates spaces where visitors connect with animals from around the world through habitats designed to reflect their natural environments. People spend time observing creatures from different continents and learning about their behaviors in carefully planned outdoor settings.
Visitors should wear comfortable shoes since the grounds are explored on foot and enclosures are spread across the park. There are walking paths throughout, but it helps to allow time and grab a map to find the different sections.
Small primate species that are vanishing in the wild are bred here to help restore populations. This work shows how a zoo can go beyond entertainment to help protect animals facing extinction.
