Ursuline College, educational institution in Pepper Pike, Ohio, U.S.
Ursuline College is a private women's university in Pepper Pike, a suburb east of Cleveland, Ohio. The campus brings together classroom buildings, residence halls, and student facilities set among open green spaces.
The Ursuline Sisters founded the school in 1871 and started offering college-level courses from a house on Euclid Avenue in Cleveland in 1922. The institution moved to its current location in Pepper Pike in 1959.
The college takes its name from the Ursuline Sisters, a Catholic religious order with a long tradition of teaching women. Walking through the campus today, visitors can still notice the presence of chapels and religious symbols that reflect the community's origins.
The campus sits in a quiet suburb and is best explored on foot, though visitors should allow enough time to walk between buildings across the wide grounds. Parking is generally available on site, making it easy to arrive by car.
The college launched a nursing program in 1975 through a partnership with a neighboring institution, making it one of the first in the state to offer this path specifically for women. That program has grown into one of the oldest private nursing schools in Ohio.
