World's Largest Buffalo

World's Largest Buffalo, Concrete buffalo sculpture in Jamestown, United States

World's Largest Buffalo is a concrete and steel sculpture situated on a hill near Interstate 94 outside Jamestown. This massive structure dominates the surrounding landscape and serves as a prominent landmark visible from the highway.

A local businessman commissioned this monument in 1959, with an artist and local workers bringing the vision to completion. The project became a powerful representation of the region's connection to the bison.

The statue embodies the deep connection between North Dakota and the American bison, which led to Jamestown's identity as The Buffalo City. Visitors observe a monument that reflects how important these animals remain to the region's character.

The monument is located near Interstate 94 and remains open throughout the year without admission charges. Paved pathways make it easy to approach the sculpture from the parking area for all visitors.

The sculpture received its official name through a public contest in 2010 that drew thousands of submissions from the community. This naming process gave the monument a personal story that connects it to local participation.
