Donora-Monessen Bridge, Steel truss bridge in Donora, Pennsylvania
The Donora-Monessen Bridge is a steel truss structure spanning the Monongahela River with four lanes of divided traffic on State Route 1077, measuring approximately 2,141 feet in total length.
Constructed in 1972 as part of a larger transportation project to improve access to the industrial Monongahela Valley, the bridge was originally intended to connect with Interstate 70 through a semi-freeway network.
Originally named after State Engineer C. Vance DeiCas, the bridge was officially renamed the Stan Musial Bridge in 2012 to honor the Baseball Hall of Fame legend who was born in Donora.
The bridge provides essential connectivity for commuters and commercial vehicles traveling between Donora and Monessen, supporting regional economic activity and daily transportation needs across the Monongahela River.
Despite being completed in 1972, the bridge's associated road segments remained unfinished until 1989 due to the decline of the steel industry in the region during the construction period.
