Olson Nature Preserve

Olson Nature Preserve is a protected area with Sandhills prairie, oak forests, and wetlands along Beaver Creek. The different habitats stretch across the land and offer varied landscapes to explore.

The land belonged to Grant and Bernice Olson, who used it for cattle farming through the Great Depression. They made it available for public use in 1992.

School groups and scout organizations regularly come here for educational programs about ecology and wildlife. These visits make the place an important learning space for young people in the area.

The preserve is located 8 miles north of Albion and is accessible via Highway 14 and Y Road. Visitors can use walking trails, benches, and a footbridge to explore the area.

The preserve marks the eastern boundary of Nebraska Sandhills and shows distinctive geological features like blowouts and gullies. These features formed through wind and water erosion over long periods.
