Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Located off Nebraska Highway 56, the Church of the Visitation complex includes three buildings spread across 109.7 acres of landscaped grounds and windbreaks.

The Burlington and Missouri Railroad sold 25,695.9 acres of land to the Irish Catholic Colonization Association in 1879, leading to the establishment of O'Connor.

The church complex demonstrates the successful relocation program of Irish-American families from eastern cities to Nebraska farmland in the late nineteenth century.

The National Register of Historic Places listed church maintains regular religious services and provides community gatherings in its 1954 parish hall.

Architect James H. Craddock designed this Romanesque Revival structure between 1904 and 1905, incorporating a rectory and cemetery into the religious complex.
